I don’t do photoshoots very often, but having arrived back from the US with some STUNNING pieces from the likes of Skingraft and Gelareh Designs, and stores such as Shop Untitled and Variazioni, I wanted to show some of it off. Cue booking a session with Ashlee of Leather & Lace Creative to do the photography magic.
I then enlisted the creative help of my old friend Amelia Arsenic, recently back in Sydney, to do my make-up and hair. I wanted a look that was somewhat avant garde and colourful, to balance the stark black & white of the clothing. I might try to be classy and minimal, but the alternative/gothy girl in me always gets the upper hand (pun intended: sometimes it’s clad in a skeleton hand, as here).
But let’s look at the REAL star of the show here. THAT colour. Call it turquoise, teal or aqua, but that lovely blue-turning-into-green colour is my fave, and is usually the colour I dye my hair. Man, how it pops against that black and white! Oh, and I also had mint/aqua nails for another mini-pop of colour.
Have a squizz:
It’s a bit “I have a secret, and if you come close, I’ll tell you what it is” 😉
But to get back to the tunic/wrap dress I’m wearing, which you can see more of below; I love how it drapes and hides my less-than-taut-tummy. Everyone needs one of these!
The main shot, whimsical as it is, doesn’t showcase the fabulosity of the boots. OK, you can see the multiple lace-ups for that corsety vibe – but they have spines for heels! Yes, certain labels in Japan like to knock off, ahem, “pay tribute to”, style icons like the infamous Dsquared2 spine heeled shoes and boots (and yes, I did invest in a pair of those).
I first got these bad boys back in 2012 – read my old blog post from The Fashionate Traveller if you’re interested, it also has a Vlog where I show them off at 3:23.
A couple more sneaky peeks from the shoot that show off the fabbo heels; one ladylike….
And….back to the outfit details….

April 25, 2016 at 6:40 pm (7 years ago)Hi Anna, sorry I’ve been away from the blog and only just saw this! I got the fabulous leather moto leggings with the padding and zips, and the Fleece Royal Hoodie (I LOVED the wool one with the leather binding and sleeves, but it was soooo heavy and a bit out of my price range!) I wore both to a Writers Conference in Melbourne a while back when the weather was rainy and cold, and they kept me warm and toasty!
