Well, Friday the 13th is here…time to go to spooky themed parties and clubs. Sadly, not for this little black duck – I’ll be working – but I thought I’d drop in a little bit of Friday the 13th inspo, for those who might be gothically inclined….
Back in 2010 I did this Spooky Halloween Make-up tutorial (back when I was still on Blogger!) Here are some in-process shots:
If you want to read how I did it, the ‘how-to’ is in the tutorial. Go have a look!
For a little something MORE extreme, how about going as a character from Buffy and the Vampire Slayer?
If you can’t guess, I went as a female version of the Gentlemen in the episode Hush – remember them? They were eerily quiet and floated along with evil menace, grinning all the while. See my version here, in my post about the Spooky Ghouls at the Undead themed Cobweb Club. (And yes, those boots above are the spine-heeled ones from my recent photoshoot).
I didn’t actually do a How To on that occasion, but I explain a little bit in the Undead blog post about it, as well as posting a lot more piccies if you’re interested. If you’d like me to do a How To in detail, drop me a line and let me know! (Here’s a facebook album that shows the whole process as it happened).
On the subject of make-up how-to’s, Amelia Arsenic has done a fab tutorial for the L’Oreal competition, very much in the same vein as my Halloween tutorial above – but obviously with more definition and superior blending skills! Take a look at Amelia’s Color Clash Makeup Tutorial, and then vote for her!
So that’s a bit of ghoulish inspiration for Friday the 13th – are you going to any parties, dressed as anything spooktacular?

We don’t even celebrate Halloween properly 🙁 Btw, kudos to you for your makeup skills! You’re absolutely talented my dear! I can’t wait to see more looks coming up on this blog <3

March 23, 2015 at 7:36 am (8 years ago)Nope! When I was a kid people didn’t even know what Halloween was. It’s more popular now as we are somehow closer to American culture! It’s a pagan festivity so it has never been popular here! I think it’s also because its origins are in the Celtic culture, it comes from Great Britain, it was never our culture! But we do celebrate now because it’s cool haha! Friday 13th is actually a lucky day here, because 13 is a lucky number. Friday 17 is a horrible day because 17 is an unlucky number! XD
